Science Centre

Facility of Exhibits & Innovation Labs

Location: Amravati
Area: 8,000 sqft
Status: Completed, Aug 2019

KnowArch’s compelling design idea of ‘curiosity’ through architecture was what convinced the jury in this competition winning entry awarded to the collaborative effort with Vastukala Consultants Pvt. Ltd. by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The main program of the Science Centre is 3 halls viz Exhibition Hall, Laboratory and Innovation Hub. The halls are so arranged that the interstitial space between them – a covered walkway, unrevealing of halls behind, draws in children to only discover the entrances to the 3 halls at the junction point. Further, the walkways continue to lead into thematic gardens, should a child choose not to enter the halls. The walkway and gardens are curated with science exhibits with a ramp leading upto the terrace for sky observation, including outdoor programs of the university. Today, the facility as a whole attracts students from smaller towns and villages in the vast district of Amravati.
